Vizio announced Tuesday that it is currently taking pre-orders for its $1,000 4K TV.

The price for the consumer electronics company's new 50-inch TV serves to make 4K TV sets more affordable to customers, as larger sets are often priced at tens of thousands of dollars, according to PC Magazine. The cheapest 4K set above the Vizio's TV is the 50-inch Seiki SE50UY04, which costs $1,500.

The 50-inch is just one of the TV sets Vizio introduced in its P-Series 4K (Ultra HD) lineup, which made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The other models were the $1,399.99 55-inch set, the $1,799.99 60-inch set, the $2,199.99 65-inch set and the $2,599.99 70-inch set.

The P-Series is able to provide more dynamic picture quality with Full-Array LED backlighting and local dimming, The Verge reported. The first feature distributes the set's backlighting across the whole back panel, and the second feature allows the TV to obtain deeper blacks by adjusting the amount of backlight in any area.

Each model comes with 64 Active LED Zones and is able to show more accurate colors, thanks to the addition of Advanced Color Management and Active Pixel Tuning, PC Magazine reported.

Additional features include HEVC H.265 codec and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, which allow users to stream content quickly. The models also have HDCP 2.2 support, meaning that Ultra HD movies and TV shows can be protected while the user watches them.

"Our P-Series collection offers an outstanding Ultra HD picture and performance," said Matt McRae, CTO of Vizio. "The shift towards 4K has left consumers demanding new solutions that deliver the right innovations to enhance their viewing experience."

McRae added that the Vizio 4K TV's range of capabilities "leaves consumers with the solutions that matter most in an Ultra HD set."
