David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” adaptation has released an extended TV trailer counting the days since Amy Dunne’s disappearance.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike bring Gillian Flynn’s characters to life in the upcoming film. For those of you unfamiliar with the novel, the story follows Nick and Amy Dunne, a couple that uproots their life in New York City to Nick’s home town after both being laid off from their jobs.

On the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary, Amy goes missing and all signs point to Nick as the culprit. However, things aren’t always what they seem as Amy and Nick’s past unfold before the viewers.

Pike recently spoke to PEOPLE about her portrayal of Amy. The actress admitted the role was an interesting one to play and she understands why people are so charmed by her character.

"[Amy] reveals a lot about the female experience, both positive and negative,” Pike told PEOPLE. "It's why people are shocked by her, seduced by her.

“She reads you better than you read yourself," Pike added. "That can be incredibly powerful and incredibly alluring."

However, playing Amy took a toll on Pike. The actress claimed she had to get away for a little while to rid herself of her “Amy” persona.

"It took a while to fully come back to myself," she told PEOPLE. "I went on holiday, but it wasn't really until after that that I felt I was divesting myself of Amy."

“Gone Girl”, starring Affleck, Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Emily Ratajkowski and Scoot McNairy is slated to hit theaters Oct. 3.
