“Final Fantasy XV” Director Hajime Tabata assured fans at the Tokyo Game Show the title will be more than just a boys club.

Tabata spoke with IGN about the all-male main cast. Tabata admitted “it’s not healthy to have a bias in genders,” but there is a reason behind the current male crew.

“The party members being all men was something that [former director] Tetsuya Nomura had kept as a very important element of this journey,” Tabata said. “He wanted to depict a story in which a group of men, a group of friends, journey throughout the world. So that’s something that I kept in Final Fantasy XV.”

Tabata claimed the female characters of “Final Fantasy XV” have yet to make an appearance, but are essential to the story line. Tabata also confirmed to IGN the upcoming title has past the halfway mark in their development process.

“Counting from the original announcement of this title as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, we understand that it has been about eight years,” Tabata said. “We know that full and well…. If there are people who are concerned it will take another eight years, we want to reassure you that it will not take that long”

The “Final Fantasy XV” director claimed developers switched over to developing the title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One instead of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It has reportedly taken the team two years to be able to create the demo showcased at the Tokyo Game Show.

However, Tabata claimed the story and its background elements have not changed much since the development process began. Watch the “Final Fantasy XV” trailer below and tell us what you think in the comments below.
