A book that is believed to be the oldest Jewish prayer book in the world was donated to a religious museum.

The 1,200-year-old siddur has a new home at the Bible Lands Museum. The prayer book was donated by the museum's own chairman, Steve Green, who purchased the book for his own collection last year, reports Cleveland Jewish News.

Green decided to donate the book to the museum because he wants to "bring our love for the Bible to the land of the Bible," as he explains to The Associated Press.

Haggai Ben Shammai, the academic director of Israel's National Library, agrees with Green confirming his allegation to AP that the book is most likely the oldest Jewish prayer book.

The book will sing alongside a collection of important biblical texts - including original New Testament scriptures - in the Book of Books exhibit.

The newest book to the Bible Lands Museum is still in its original binding and is written entirely in Hebrew. It contains the Passover Haggadah, the morning service and liturgical poems, as Cleveland Jewish News reports.

Green, who says he comes from a very religious family with several relatives who are clergymen, divulges to AP that a Bible museum will be coming to America in 2017 with more of the family's collection of religious artifacts.
