Verizon has added Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to its small range of VoLTE-supported devices.

The company has finally expanded its VoLTE supported range of devices from just two to a total of four high-end smartphones. Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus join the existing Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G2 smartphones in bringing Voice over LTE service to allow users to browse the internet while talking on the phone.

The latest announcement comes a week after the wireless carrier introduced Advanced Calling 1.0. The advanced voice and video calling feature can be enabled on both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by navigating into the phone's Settings > Cellular and choosing Enable LTE. Under the phone's default setting, the "Data only" option will be enabled, which needs to be changed to "Voice & Data" to activate VoLTE service, Slash Gear reported.

In an official Verizon blog last week, the carrier noted that the new feature will work only when both smartphones on the calling and receiving end use VoLTE-enabled smartphones from Verizon within the 4G LTE coverage.

In a separate report by TekRevue on how to turn on VoLTE on iPhone 6 devices, some users were requested to enable Advanced Calling 1.0 on their accounts before applying the change. This option can be found under Verizon online account's Manage My Account > Change Features settings.

Users of HD voice or VoLTE features can benefit from the ability to browse and talk on phone simultaneously, an option which is limited with CDMA carriers.

The VoLTE roll-out by Verizon follows the company's revelation of plans to start supporting Wi-Fi Calling next year. T-Mobile has already rolled out the feature on its network bringing free voice calls and text messages using a Wi-Fi hotspot.
