HTC is reportedly planning to launch two new smartphones with upgraded camera capabilities.

HTC, the renowned smartphone maker, has established a brand value for its high-end phones. But the numbers, however, have not been in the phone maker's favor as the company reported 12 straight quarters of dwindling smartphone sales. The Taiwanese tech giant hasn't given up hope just yet, as a new report suggests two new HTC smartphones underway.

In a direct tweet from Twitter source @uplinks, HTC is planning to introduce two new smartphones with focus on camera. One of the models will reportedly add to the company's flagship variant and is being called the HTC One M8 Eye. The device is expected to sport an identical design to its flagship model with a metallic build. The main difference, as the source adds, is the replacement of the 4-UltraPixel camera in favor of a 13-megapixel Duo camera.

In a separate tweet by the same source, @uplinks, the second phone will be called HTC Eye. Different from the rumored One Eye, the HTC Eye will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD display, an 8-megapixel rear and front camera and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The smartphone is aimed at providing users with high-quality selfies, catering to the growing demand for such phones.

The launch details were not specified by the tipster. But it is widely reported that the new phones will be shown at a press event on Oct. 8, for which the phone maker has sent out invites titled "Double Exposure," according to CNET. As the title hints, the new camera-focused phones will likely be the highlight of the event.

HTC is also rumored to be working on the company's first waterproof sports camera with 16 megapixels. It suggests the company is branching out from its solitary business line of smartphones into a new path.
