An Obi-Wan Kenobi "Star Wars" spinoff could be happening! According to a new report, Lucasfilm is well aware that the Jedi is a popular character and is reportedly planning a solo movie around Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It's been previously reported that Lucasfilm will be releasing three solo projects in between "Star Wars: Episode" films. According to rumors, the spinoffs could focus on Han Solo (Harrison Ford's character in "Star Wars: Episode VII"), Boba Fett and/or X-Wing. Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank have already signed on to helm the Solo films, the first of which is expected to hit theaters in 2016.

Making Star Wars recently reported that a source close to production revealed that producers are tossing around the idea of making a spinoff about Obi-Wan Kenobi because of the character's popularity. In a poll by This is Madness Tournament, Obi beat out Han Solo, Boba Fett, Darth Vader and Yoda, Making Star Wars reports. The standalone film is said to still be in the very early stages.

"I've heard from a quite a few people that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works. For the spinoff movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I'm hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie," the source said.

The source also dished on some other information and reiterated that Luke has been laying low for about a decade.

"Again, everything I've heard, read or seen says he's only been gone for around 10 years," the source told the site.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will hit theaters Dec. 18, 2015.
