Chris Pratt's marvelous summer continues into September when he'll host "Saturday Night Live" for the season 40 premiere. Ariana Grande will join the "Parks & Recreation" star as the show's musical guest.

Pratt played Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord in the Marvel summer blockbuster "Guardians of the Galaxy." The movie's $94.3 million opening weekend made it the biggest August release ever and has grossed $588 million worldwide so far.

He and Grande will both make their "SNL" debuts on Sept. 27.

"Hosting SNL! That was high on the bucket list! Right up there with hunting human. Hey @bibbymoynihan Are you a fast runner?" Pratt tweeted on Sept. 10.

Grande may perform her hit song "Problem" with Iggy Azalea on the show, according to HollywoodLife.com. She opened the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with her "Bang Bang" collaborators Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.

NBC's late-night comedy sketch show will welcome back former "SNL" player Sarah Silverman to host on Oct. 10. She appeared on the show during the 1993-94 season and was a staff writer. The Maroon 5 will make their fifth performance as the show's musical guest that night. The Grammy-winning group recently released their fifth studio album "V."

"Sooooooo excited for @prattprattpratt and @SarahKSilverman to come play! #SNL40," Bobby Moynihan tweeted upon hearing the news.

"Saturday Night Live" will most likely pay tribute to Don Pardo, its longtime announcer who died last month. Pardo served as the show's announcer for 38 seasons, only missing season seven.

Pratt has co-starred with beloved "SNL" alum Amy Poehler on "Parks & Rec" for the past six seasons. The seventh and final season of the NBC comedy will premiere midseason.

Poehler has hosted and made many spot appearances on "SNL" since her departure in 2008. It wouldn't be surprising if she dropped in on Pratt's big night.
