Beamdog game developers announced the new Dungeons & Dragons game Icewind Dale is now available for pre-order.

The game developer and a digital distributor is continuing its efforts to refurbish old-school classics based on Dungeons & Dragons with enhanced versions for modern audiences. After having worked on Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2, Beamdog has set its sights on the new classic Dungeons & Dragons title, Icewind Dale.

Originally released in 2000, Icewind Dale will undergo a massive remake without changing the core aim of the game. The Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition offers a new, refreshed game-play on PC, Mac, iPad, Android smartphones and tablets.

"Icewind Dale has been enhanced with new kits and character classes, dozens of new items and spells, and restored quest material cut from the original game," Beamdog wrote on its official webpage, Saturday. "The redesigned user interface features Zoom capabilities and a Quickloot Bar, among numerous other improvements. Up to six players can simultaneously enjoy Icewind Dale with the new cross-platform multiplayer mode."

The PC version of the Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition for both Windows and Mac OS X is available for pre-order on Beamdog's official web store, Trent Oster, creative director for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, said in a tweet. The upgraded title for Windows and Mac retails for $19.99. The iPhone, iPad and the Android version of the game is expected to hit Apple App Store and Google Play Store "soon." Linux users can also order the game from Steam in the coming days.

The game is still in its beta stage and will release on all platforms in a month or so, Touch Arcade reports.

PCMag noted Beamdog requires a one-time activation during installation, post which the process is simple. The game can be played offline or even transferred to PC.
