DC’s “New 52” artist-writer duo for “Wonder Woman” are excited to see Gal Gadot take on the superhero role in “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Artist Cat Staggs and writer Amanda Deibert spoke to the Wall Street Journal about taking over the “Wonder Woman” storyline and finally being able to see her come to life in on the big screen.

However, unlike some DC fans, Deibert is attempting to reserve judgment about Gadot’s casting until she sees the film. She doesn’t want another Heath Ledger-Joker situation on her mind.

“I don’t like to cast a judgment until I’ve seen somebody because I’ve been surprised so many times,” Deibert told WSJ. “You think somebody’s weird for a part, and then Heath Ledger kills it as Joker, and you’re like, ‘OK, nevermind’ because it’s amazing. I will know what I think about her as Wonder Woman when I see her as Wonder Woman.

Staggs recalled hearing Gadot and her “Batman vs. Superman” costars were at Hall H during San Diego Comic-Con 2014. She admitted her reaction to the cast’s surprise appearance wasn’t what she expected.

“When I was sitting at my table at [San Diego] Comic-Con,” Staggs told WSJ, “I could hear the rumble in Hall H through the wall, and then I checked my Twitter feed, and they had just showed the costume in the room.

“I remember sitting at my table, and finally someone showed a picture of it, and I got weepy,” she continued. “I got so excited. It was kind of an overwhelming and kind of a shocking feeling. I didn’t expect that to happen.”

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be released to theaters on March 25, 2016.
