Xiaomi had another successful sale in India on Tuesday, when 20,000 units of Mi3 smartphones sold out in just 2.4 seconds.

Xiaomi, China's biggest smartphone maker, made a successful debut of its first international market in India, with thousands of Mi 3 smartphone units selling through Flipkart's online store. In the most recent sale on Tuesday, Xiaomi sold its entire inventory of 20,000 units in a mere 2.4 seconds. This week's sale did not break its previous record, but it is only one point behind last week's 2.3-second record.

Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi, shared the news of Mi3's sale in India through his official Twitter account, Tuesday. Xiaomi confirmed the flash sale in a Facebook post soon after. With this week's sale, Xiaomi has sold more than 100,000 units of Mi3 in the country through six flash sales. But the demand for the smartphone is much higher than its supply. More than 100,000 people registered their interest to buy the phone this week.

Xiaomi, which is popularly known as "China's Apple," gained immense popularity for its smartphone due to its high-specs in affordable range. The Mi3 smartphone offers a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 and 2GB RAM. It features a 5-inch full HD display with 440ppi protected by Gorilla Glass 3 shield and aluminum-magnesium alloy frame.

Xiaomi has been criticized for limiting the number of Mi 3 smartphones despite the growing demand. The first batch of Mi3 smartphones sold out within 40 minutes, and the second batch did not last longer than 5 seconds. The third flash sale lasted for just two seconds while the fourth sale went off in just 2.4 seconds. Last week's fifth sale was even impressive with 2.3 second record time for 20,000 units according to Flipkart.

After six successful flash sales of Mi3, Xiaomi has decided to launch yet another budget phone with lowered specs, the Redmi 1S. Registrations for the new phone, which is listed for just INR 5999, open at 6 p.m. IST on Tuesday, and will be on sale through Flipkart next Tuesday, September 2.
