Microsoft is attracting some budget-conscious consumers to its previous year's Surface 2 tablets with a $100 discount.

While all eyes are set on its high-end Surface Pro 3 tablet, the Redmond software giant announced a flat $100 discount on its last year's Surface 2. The discount should serve the purpose for those who are longing to buy a tablet from Microsoft but looking for great deals.

According to WinBeta, Microsoft is offering its $100 discount on all Surface 2 models, including the LTE version that was launched in March. After discounts, the 32GB Surface 2 sells for $349, the 64GB model is listed for $449 and the 64GB LTE version is priced at $579.

Microsoft's Surface 2 tablet offers reasonable specifications to match its discounted value. It comes with a 10.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Powered by ARM variant of Windows, Surface Pro 2 runs on NVIDIA's Tegra 4 processor. The Surface 2, which was released in September 2013, comes in two storage options, 32GB and 64GB, and both models are backed by 2GB of RAM. External storage can be added to the tablet via its microSD slot.

The tablet also packs a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 3.5MP front-facing camera along with a battery that promises up to 10 hours of runtime. It runs Windows RT 8.1 out of the box to offer access to Office and other entertainment apps from the Windows Store. It features easy-sharing options via Bluetooth LE and Full-size USB 3.0.

Customers can also claim 200GB of additional OneDrive storage free for 2 years and 1 year of unlimited voice calling to landlines in over 60 countries. These offers must be claimed within 90 days of purchase.

The offer is valid on purchase from Microsoft Store and via retailers like Best Buy.
