AT&T is offering great discounts to subscribers on Apple products. On purchasing an iPhone 5S or 5C from the carrier one can avail a discount of $200 on iPads.

It looks like AT&T is clearing the stocks of Apple products ahead of the most-anticipated launch of iPhone 6. The second-largest wireless carrier in the US is offering a $200 discount on Apple iPads for anyone purchasing an iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C on full price or monthly installments. The offer is available across all AT&T owned and operated stores in the US, CNET reported.

Apple's next flagship, the rumored iPhone 6, is expected to debut September 9 at a special media event and hit stores as early as end of September. The latest discount seems to be a way to sell off the inventory before a new product launch, a move which is usually carried out by retailers. The promotion can also help AT&T move older iPads off the shelves, making space for the upcoming full-sized and mini iPads set to launch later this year.

AT&T will also benefit from its attractive deal on Apple devices. Anyone can purchase iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C from AT&T by financing it over 24 months with Next program or can also buy it in all-cash. The $200 discount will be applicable on iPads with cellular access. The promotion requires customers to commit to a two-year data plan from AT&T.

The cost of unlocked iPhone 5S 16GB variant is $650 and the iPhone 5C costs $550 for the same storage version. Under AT&T's Next program, customers purchasing the iPhone 5S under 24-month financing will have to pay $27.09 a month. Similarly, the iPhone 5C will cost $22.02 a month to be paid for 24 months under AT&T's financing option.

After the purchase, the $200 discount can be applied towards models like iPad Air 16GB variant and an iPad mini without Retina. The cost of the higher-end iPad Air will go down to $430 from its $630 retail price. The older iPad mini model will get better discount, costing just $200 instead of $430, which is more than $200 discount. All tablets bought under the promotion come with a two-year data plan with AT&T.

If the promotion works for AT&T, it will bag more tablet subscribers as well as data subscriptions for the carrier.
