Ian Somerhalder and his rumored girlfriend Nikki Reed are not hiding their romance anymore and made their first public appearance together when they walked the blue carpet at the 2014 "Teen Choice Awards" on Sunday, Aug. 10.
Onlookers told Hollywood Life that the couple was touchy-feely and Somerhalder pulled Reed in for a hug. The two didn't stay on the carpet long before being ushered inside for the event. Reed, who is fresh off a divorce from Paul McDonald, and Somerhalder previously attended Comic-Con and the Young Hollywood Awards together but always arrived separately.
The "Teen Choice Awards" was the first time both arrived to an event together. "The Vampire Diaries" star was nominated for Choice TV Actor, Sci-fi/Fantasy and Choice Male Hottie. Reed wasn't nominated for any awards that night but wanted to show support for the actor.
Somerhalder's ex, Nina Dobrev, was also at the awards show. At first fans were concerned how Dobrev would handle her "Vampire Diaries" co-star's new romance but a source previously told Hollywood Life that she is ok with it.
"If Ian and Nikki are happy, then Nina is fine with it," the source said. "Nina just has to live her life and the fact that Ian is still in it is not under her control, it's just business. She refuses to allow emotions take over a paycheck."
It's been said that things between Somerhalder and Reed were starting to get serious. The couple recently adopted a "baby boy": a chestnut horse named Eagle. The 35-year-old actor introduced fans to Eagle on Instagram.
"Proud new dad... What amazing creatures they are. Wow. His name is Eagle. Thank you @iamnikkireed for snapping this special moment, with our big baby boy," Somerhalder wrote.
It was even rumored that they were thinking about getting matching tattoos to prove their love for one another.
"Nikki and Ian are talking about getting tattoos together. They want to get a matching quote instead of each other's names because Nikki has already done the name thing with two of her exes and neither one of them worked out. She wants to do something different with Ian," the source said.
