Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew allegedly assaulted a security guard at a bar and restaurant.  Jones-Drew's agent, however, denies his client's involvement, NFL.com reports.

A security guard at a St. Augustine, Fla., bar and restaurant alleges that Jones-Drew punched him in the face during an altercation.  The guard claims that Jones-Drew knocked him out after he put one of the NFL player's friends in a headlock for touching a young woman.  Jones-Drew's agent, Adisa Bakari, denied the incident, which is alleged to have happened on Sunday at the Conch House.

"We have confirmed with the St. Augustine Police Department that no charges have been filed against Maurice and that the matter is under investigation," Bakari told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.  "While Maurice was present when the events in question began, he quickly departed the premises immediately thereafter.  Maurice was not involved in any physical altercation, whatsoever."

The St. Augustine police later released a statement (via NFL.com):

"The St. Augustine Police Department has taken a notarized statement of Misdemeanor Battery against Jacksonville Jaguar player Maurice Jones-Drew that stemmed from an altercation at the Conch House on Sunday, May 26, 2013," the statement said.  "Jones-Drew has not been charged with any crime and maintains his innocence.  He is cooperating fully with our investigation.

"This matter is an on-going investigation at this time.  As soon as we complete our investigation, we will send out a release with our findings or conclusion."

Doctors found contusions and a bone bruise on the security guard's swollen jaw.

"We are aware of the situation regarding Maurice Jones-Drew and are in the process of gathering more information," the Jaguars said in a statement to Rapoport.  "Due to this being a legal matter, we'll have no further comment at this time."
