Nissan is exploring the idea of launching autonomous driving cars able to manage traffic situations in the next two years.

Nissan, one of the biggest car makers, will soon join the fleet of innovative automobile companies by integrating future tech in to its cars. Speaking at a press conference in Tokyo, CEO Carlos Ghosn announced Wednesday that his company will launch two new technologies in future car models that will enhance the driving experience.

"We are bringing to market a traffic-jam pilot, a technology enabling cars to drive autonomously - and safely - on congested highways. In the same timeframe, we will make fully automated parking systems available across a wide range of vehicles," Ghosn said in a press statement.

Nissan doesn't plan to stop there as Ghosn continued to lay the road map for the next endeavors in its autonomous drive strategy. The company plans to introduce vehicles with the capability to change lanes and tackle roadway hazards automatically by 2018 and launch fully autonomous vehicles before the end of the decade.

For the growth of the company, Ghosn has four major goals, which include reducing emissions and improving road safety, making vehicles that are more connected to smartphones and tablets, attract the senior crowd and finally embrace gender diversity.

Ghosn warned that vehicles with self-driving capabilities that don't require any human intervention are still in the developing stage. Nissan's new technologies will still require drivers to remain in control and behind the wheel.

Nissan isn't the only car company exploring the self-driving tech, s Google originally started the idea with its autonomous test fleet. Other major car making companies such as Audi, Mercedes and Toyota are building autonomous vehicles.
