A simple procedure helps owners of the newly-launched Nokia Lumia 930 smartphones to overcome a purple tint issue that has irked several users.

Less than a week after the Nokia Lumia 930 went on sale in the US and across Europe, users have started complaining about a display issue on their brand new handsets. Buyers of the company's latest flagship smartphone have found a purple tint on the screen, mostly visible when the screen is black. Luckily, there is a simple fix for the issue without needing to replace the handset or waiting for an OTA update from the manufacturer.

Henning.ms first reported the problem after a hands-on experience with the device. The issue seems to appear when the device automatically adjusts the screen brightness to its lowest level. To fix the problem, Lumia 930 user must access Nokia's pre-loaded Display tool for color calibration.

Go to Settings > Display > Adjust Color > move the Tint slider towards Green to reduce the purple hue on the display. This is just a temporary fix but the problem seems to disappear with no reports of recurrence of the purple tint by the users. Microsoft, the official owner of Nokia, is looking into the matter as it wants to build the reputation of the company's flagship.

"Microsoft Devices is taking quality issues on our products very seriously. To address the possible concerns with Lumia 930 display, we have recalled some test samples from ...the Norwegian market to be investigated further in our R/D site in Finland," Hahmed Estakhri from Microsoft Device Sales said in a statement, according to Henning.ms.

Expect a more permanent solution to be rolled out by Microsoft soon in the form of an over-the-air update, which would be the company's first since the smartphone's debut.

The Lumia 930 is one of the two new smartphones that run Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. It features some of the high-end features available in the market, such as a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM and a 5-inch FULL HD display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution. The smartphone features a high-standard 20-megapixels rear-facing camera that uses Nokia's PureView tech, ZEISS optics and optical image stabilization. With this phone, Nokia is taking a swipe at the higher-range smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 5S, HTC One M8 and other premium flagships. So Microsoft will take extra care to prevent any debacles that may affect the sales of the Lumia 930 smartphone.
