SoundCloud updated its iPhone app Thursday to provide a better listening experience for users.

Changes made include a cleaner look and the removal of the option to upload and record audio files directly through the app, according to PC Magazine.

"When we say all-new, we mean all-new," SoundCloud wrote in a blog post. "Designed and built from scratch. Easy and natural to use while you are out and about. Something that lets you hear more of what you want to hear."

As a replacement for the upload option, the company recommended that users download Retronym's free AudioCopy app so they can record and post audio.

"As we focused on making the best possible listening experience, we decided to remove the Record button," SoundCloud said.

Eric Wahlforss, chief technology officer and co-founder of SoundCloud, said the company has been testing a variety of different products with brands in order to do "native-type advertising", but did not provide a lot of details about the products, SPIN reported.

"And we're building a couple of other things as well ... I can't talk a lot in detail about it," he added. "It hasn't rolled out at any bigger scale yet, but we are looking to create a user experience that's very elegant, frictionless, open and also has an element of monetization."

The new app also includes a "one thumb" interface, in which users can play, pause and skip tracks using their thumb. It also features a "You" tab that stores all the tracks that a user has liked, playlists they've created, and posts. Users will also be able to play tracks and follow other users from the Search Page, according to PC Magazine.

"The new home screen makes it easier to find new things you'll love- your stream, trending artists, tracks, and genres are all there," SoundCloud said.

The new SoundCloud app can be downloaded now at the App Store for free. While the app is currently only available for iPhones, SoundCloud said it is looking to release an update for the iPad in the future.
