Maksim Chmerkovskiy is still gushing about his "Dancing With the Stars" partner Meryl Davis. The two won Season 18 of the ABC show and their chemistry on the dance floor has sparked endless rumors that something romantic might be going on between them.

US Weekly caught up with Chmerkovskiy at the 32nd Annual Fred and Astaire Awards on Monday, June 2 in New York City where he talked about his relationship with the Olympic ice skater. When the 34-year-old was asked to talk about Davis, he teased, "About our romance?"

"No, we're good. We're great. She's an amazing person," he added.

"[The rumors are] always circulating around us dancers. It's fine. That's the nature of what we do," Chmerkovskiy said. "We're always in close proximity to each other. In order to produce what Meryl and I produced, there had to have been so much chemistry, and we had it. And that's what leads people who are not used to that to speculate, which is great. I love that."

The professional dancer also said he loves Davis but wouldn't say if that love was the romantic kind.

"I love her. I love her!" he told US. "I love her as a person and for what she has allowed me to do with our choreography and how much she's embraced it... I literally had a perfect partnership with Meryl. Everything just came together."

"She's a brilliant person, and she's also very normal," Chmerkovskiy added. "I enjoyed my time with her. It was sad when the season was over."

Just because the two are not doing the salsa together on Monday nights anymore, doesn't mean they stopped spending time with each other.

"I'll meet her for dinner and everything is great," he told the magazine.

Both Chmerkovskiy and Davis have said that they are just friends. Recently, Chmerkovskiy sparked rumors that he was rekindling his relationship with ex-girlfriend Kate Upton when he posted (and deleted) a photo of the two of them together at Tao in New York City.

A source told US Weekly, that the run-in was accidental and Chmerkovskiy and Upton are not back together.

"They ran into each other," the source said. "They said hello briefly but are not back together at all. He was very cordial... They aren't on bad terms."
