"Boardwalk Empire" actor Charlie Cox has landed the role "Daredevil" in Marvel/Netflix's exclusive series, according to Variety.

Variety sources have confirmed Cox's casting, which was originally reported by The Latino Review

"I am hearing that Charlie Cox, the English actor best known for his starring role as Tristan Thorne in Stardust and more recently for his supporting role in the second and third seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, is looking like he is going to be Marvel's Daredevil," The Latino Review reports.

Disney CEO Bob Iger and Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement of the "Daredevil" series back in February, as New York City will be the setting for the upcoming Neflix show, according to TheWrap.

"Since 2008 Disney has directly contributed almost half a billion dollars to New York's economy through television and film production, along with approximately 9,000 jobs for New Yorkers," Iger said. "The Governor's policies make this great state a more affordable and attractive location, opening the door for even greater economic investment and job creation for New Yorkers. Our Marvel series for Netflix will inject millions directly into the local economy and create hundreds of new jobs."

TheWrap reports Netflix's exclusive Marvel show will consist of 13 episodes that will feature four characters: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The show will reportedly bring 3,000 jobs to New York City, including 400 full-time jobs.  The is no set release date for the "Daredevil" series.

Though Cox has landed the role, The Latino Review previously speculated about rumors claiming actor Zac Efron was up for a major Marvel role, possibly starring in one of four flagship franchises: Netflix's exclusive "Daredevil," "Dr. Strange," "Agents of SHIELD" or "X-Men" character.

"[Efron] was given a script for the project just recently and currently no one knows which part is actually in play," The Latino Review reports. "The only one that knows that answer is his Manager and he will not comment on it."

Since "Daredevil" is now out for the actor, Efron could still be up for a role "Dr. Strange," "Agents of SHIELD" or "X-Men."  Efron does have a relationship with Disney since he starred in their massive hits "High School Musical."
