A 3-year-old boy in Syria who claims to remember his past life says he was murdered, according to a report from The Epoch Times.

The boy, from a village in the Golan Heights region, even led local elders to where his remains and the murder weapon were buried.

Upon digging the village elders found a man's skeleton and an axe, which was the murder weapon. The child then confronted his supposed killer and he later confessed.

Residents in the village which lies near the border of Syria and Israel belong to the ethnic group Druze, who believe in reincarnation. Birthmarks are also said to be connected to how that person died in a past life. The boy, who was not named in the report, was born with a red birthmark on his head, according to The Epoch Times.

Not only was he able to recall his past name, but he knew the village he lived in and how he died- from an axe blow to the head.

The skull that was found had a wound in the same location as the child's birthmark.

According to a resident from the same village, the man the child said he used to be had disappeared four years ago. His relatives thought he became involved in the conflict that has overrun the nearby territory.

The boy led the village elders to the man responsible for his past life's death. The alleged killer's face turned white when confronted by the boy, but he did not initially confess to the murder, according to the newspaper.

The child's story is part of a book written by a German therapist titled "Children Who Have Lived Before: Reincarnation Today." The therapist, Trutz Hardo, heard the story from a doctor who witnessed the events, Eli Lasch.

Hardo writes that the alleged killer eventually confessed to Lasch. The doctor passed away in 2009.
