With the 2014 NFL draft days away, the Buffalo Bills reportedly are "burning up the phone lines" trying to trade up for either defensive end Jadeveon Clowney or offensive tackle Greg Robinson.  The Detroit Lions, meanwhile, reportedly still plan to make a splash by moving up for receiver Sammy Watkins.

Buffalo is the latest team reportedly trying to trade up on Thursday.  The Bills are frantically trying to acquire the first or second overall pick for either Clowney or Robinson, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

"The Bills, we're told, have been burning up the phone lines in an effort to work out a deal that would vault them from No. 9 to No. 1 or No. 2.  The targets are believed to be defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and tackle Greg Robinson," Florio wrote on Wednesday.  "It's unclear what it would take to get a deal done."

The Houston Texans hold the top pick, and the St. Louis Rams hold the second pick.    Both teams have indicated in the past a willingness to trade down.

Assuming the Bills are trying to move up, they're likely to have competition: The Atlanta Falcons.  Atlanta also reportedly wants to trade up for Clowney, whom most analysts believe is the best player in this year's draft.

Another report from Pro Football Talk indicated the Lions want to move up for Watkins, confirming the long-standing rumors that Detroit wants to complement Calvin Johnson with another top receiver -- either Watkins or Mike Evans.

Per Pro Football Talk:

"Reports linking the Lions to Watkins have been going strong for months, and this morning on NFL Network, Ian Rapoport reported that the Lions have told Watkins they're considering trading from No. 10 into the Top 3 to take him."

The draft begins on Thursday, May 8.
