Viber rolled out a significant update to its iOS version of the app with a flat aesthetic look similar to the one seen in the latest iOS7.

Viber, one of the popular internet-calling and messaging services, received a new makeover for its iOS version of the app. The mobile application has finally adopted the flat design to match the iOS7 look, which debuted on iPhone 5S last September. The flat, minimalistic appearance of Apple's latest mobile OS is appealing and several app developers redesigned their respective apps to give users the same experience. Viber finally redesigned its iOS app in the latest update, Wednesday.

Besides the major alteration to the app's interface, Viber also added new features to make its IM application more appealing to users. According to the change-log on the Apple App Store, Viber users can send longer video messages and also multiple photos and videos at the same time. Users can also create a list of numbers or contacts that can be blocked.

"Viber has been redesigned from the start for simplicity and ease of use. Taking our cue from the clean, flat look of iOS 7, we wanted Viber to feel like a completely seamless part of your device," Viber CEO Talmon Marco told TechCrunch, Wednesday. "Our top priority is the enthusiastic community of users who rely on Viber every day to communicate with their friends, family, and important contacts. The new iPhone version we released today will make it easier and more fun than ever before to stay connected."

After updating the Viber app, users will witness more white and purple combination across the app instead of the usual grey and purple. The call screen looks more like the one found on iOS7 devices while on call.

The Cyprus-based messaging platform has long been making changes to attract more users. Viber recently added Windows 8desktop OS to its list of supported platforms, last December. In April, the WP8 version of the app was updated to include the popular "Viber Out" feature that enables calls to landlines and mobile phones. The company was acquired by Rakuten for $900 million, in February.

Viber does not offer advertisements like WhatsApp but generates its revenue from in-app purchases of credit packs, starting from 99 cents and stickers for $1.99 per pack. The app is available on Windows, Mac and Linux OS and also covers all major mobile platforms. The company has more than 100 million monthly active users.

Viber also added typing status indicator, which shows if the other users is typing a message, for Android tablets and desktop.

Users can download the updated Viber 4.2 from iTunes for free.
