Sunday night's "Game of Thrones" marked the return of Petyr Baelish to the series and Littlefinger's intentions are as unclear as ever now that he has a Stark in his possession.

[Warning: Spoilers Ahead]

Actor Aidan Gillen explained to Entertainment Weekly how his character's relationship with Sansa Stark would slowly turned into a father-daughter dynamic. Baelish has essentially rescued (or abducted) Sansa after the royal wedding. Sansa leaving right after the reception makes he look incredibly guilty of conspiring to kill the king. Sansa must now rely on Baelish to help he survive outside of King's Landing.

"For me the season is about developing more of a parental and surrogate parental side - the sweeter side of Littlefinger comes through, as well," Gillen told EW. "I'm off on my travels and laying plans. He's always laying plans, [this is one of his] meticulous and far-reaching plans, geographically and generationally, even. So it's quite interesting. Am I being cryptic enough?"

Gillen admitted to EW Baelish is dangerous, which Sansa isn't exactly safe. However, Sansa couldn't have left King's Landing at a better time.

"He's dangerous. People tend to refer to Varys and Littlefinger as the characters who are the most dangerous," he said. "Dangerous in that you're not sure what his game is or where his allegiances lie. You know, he's keeping a lot of options open and playing the long game."

Gillen, however, couldn't exactly pick out why his character is drawn to Sansa, despite his connection to the Starks.

"Well, there's the obvious," Gillen told EW. "The obvious connection of Sansa being Eddard Stark's daughter. There's also somebody there who holds some intrigue. I feel I can teach her, and take her under my wing. But I have a feeling she may have her own agenda."

"Game of Thrones" airs on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. EST.
