The Detroit Red Wings play the Boston Bruins on Friday in Game 1 of the 2014 NHL playoffs first round.  The game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.  Listen to the radio broadcast or watch the live stream via the links provided below.

Boston's performance through the season earned them the Presidents' Trophy and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.  Although they played well during the regular season, the Bruins have struggled recently in the first round of the playoffs.  Boston has played all seven games in each of their last three first-round playoff appearances, according to the Associated Press.

"We certainly learned from all those Game 7s that we've had to go through in the first round that it is important to be on top of your game at the end of the year and not limp in to the playoffs," Bruins coach Claude Julien told the Associated Press, "which I thought we did at times after solidified our playoff spot.  ...

"So, again, nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs.  You've got to work for your goals.  Just because you got them during the season doesn't mean you're necessarily going to get them automatically in the playoffs."

Detroit comes into the postseason as the eighth seed.  Despite winning three of their four regular season games this year against Boston, Detroit is still the underdog in the match.  The label, though, is something the team has seemingly embraced.

"All of the pressure is going to be on them," Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard said.  "They've got to win, we're not supposed to.  We've got to make it as hard as possible on them."
