David Fincher has reportedly passed on directing the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Several insider sources told THR Fincher was demanding $10 million up front, along with some other "aggressive demands" over full control of the film's marketing. Fincher's alleged demands were "ridiculous" considering the Jobs film isn't a guaranteed blockbuster. A source told THR, "He should be rewarded in success but not up front."

"Sony allowed him considerable input into the marketing of the 2011 film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, including honoring his request to use the tagline "The feel bad movie of Christmas" in its campaign," THR reports. "A source says Fincher also had the studio create metal, razor-blade-shaped one-sheet materials for the film that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce but were not suitable for display in theaters."

Fincher has not released a statement about the lost deal with Sony. However, Fincher's upcoming crime thriller "Gone Girl" has released its first teaser trailer. The film is about a couple, Nick and Amy Dunne, who moves to the Midwest after being unable to find employment in New York City as magazine writers. However, soon after their fifth wedding anniversary Amy goes missing and things take a turn for the worst.
