Twitter has finally rolled out the updated look of its users' profiles that are somewhat similar to Facebook's user profile page. The changes represent a real turning point for the social networking site.

The updated profile page is not visible to all users yet, only with new users and famous personalities. To take a peek at its new appearance and get a feel of it, Mashable created a new Twitter account and shared its experience.

New users will be guided on setting up their timeline and profile upon creation of their accounts. Each user will be asked to upload a profile photo and write a brief personal description. However, there is an option to skip this process but will see a blank profile photo similar to that of Facebook when a user did not upload one. Afterwards, recommendations of names and groups to follow will be displayed on screen.

A complete user profile will display a remarkable "big" theme as all the elements on the page, including the display picture, the header image, and tweets, are all immense. The tabs of Tweets, Following, Followers, Favorites, and Lists, on the other hand, were removed from the page.

The display image is bigger than the profile picture in Facebook, while the header photo can be up to 1,500 pixels wide. You can also add a background image of your choice.

Furthermore, Twitter improved tweets visually by enlarging tweets of popular ones, but once every user becomes popular, their tweets could all possibly become big and bold, and occupy a large area in the page.

The Twitter's updated profile page is far better than the previous profile page layout. However, the "big" theme is a little overwhelming, which can be a big turn-off for some who prefer their social site simple and efficient.
