Free agent receiver DeSean Jackson signing with the Washington Redskins is reportedly a "done deal."  The Oakland Raiders, meanwhile, are reportedly leery about pursuing Jackson because of his reputation for being selfish.

Jackson appears close to signing a deal with the Redskins, one of the two teams believed to be the top contenders for him.  ESPN's John Keim reported the progression of the Jackson-Redskins talks on Tuesday.

UPDATE (12:15 p.m.): Phillymag.com's Tim McManus reports that Jackson to the Redskins is a "done deal."

After reportedly meeting with Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III in Los Angeles over the weekend, Jackson arrived Monday night in Washington, where he dined with the Redskins coaching staff and later went to a club with Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and receiver Pierre Garcon.

Griffin, Hall and Garcon all have been vocal about their desire for Jackson to sign with the Redskins.  Jackson's two-day visit -- he's scheduled to visit Redskins Park on Tuesday -- could indicate his intent to sign with Washington, given most free agent visits last only one day.

Although the report of Jackson's alleged gang ties continues to weaken, there are still concerns about his alleged reputation of being a selfish player.  The concern about his "me-first" attitude is enough to make Oakland hesitant about pursuing the speedy receiver, according to Pro Football Talk.

"As one league source explained it to PFT, (Raiders general manager) Reggie McKenzie is leery about Jackson," Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote on Tuesday.  "Not because of the trumped-up gang ties (the more we read the supposedly groundbreaking NJ.com article about suspected gang ties, the less hard news we actually see in it), but because of Jackson's reputation as a me-first player who can't be controlled.

"While the Raiders have been buying up plenty of veteran free agents, most are regarded as good teammates who'll provide positive influences to the locker room.  That's not the reputation Jackson enjoys."

Jackson, whom the Philadelphia Eagles released on Friday, is coming off a career-best 1,332 receiving-yard season.  Among the teams reportedly interested in Jackson are the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers.
