For all those zombie fans who might find AMC's "The Walking Dead" a little too graphic and gory, you're in luck because Fox-owned syndication channel MyNetworkTV just announced that they will begin airing a family-friendly, edited version of the show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, MyNet has picked up the exclusive broadcast rights to re-air "The Walking Dead." Beginning in the fall, the network will run two episodes a week. It hasn't been revealed what day of the week the edited shows will air.

Even though MyNet isn't a popular network, Entertainment Weekly reports that it still reaches about 97 percent of the country. It usually shows reruns of popular shows like "House," "Monk" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

"It's not often you get to add the hottest show on the planet to your lineup," Frank Cicha of the Fox Television Stations said. "We just did, and it's a tremendous get for our stations."

The family-friendly version of "The Walking Dead" will have a TV-14 rating, something the original AMC version tried to do until the Parents Television Council petitioned saying that the rating was too lenient for the show's graphic content. Last year, AMC changed it from TV-14 to TV-MA.

While some people might be concerned with how the zombie apocalypse show could be watered down, Syracuse University media scholar Robert J. Thompson pointed out to Yahoo that it won't be a difficult task and it has been done in the past.

"They did it with 'Sex and the City' on TBS," Thompson said. "They even did it with 'Dexter' for a season on CBS. And that's about a serial killer who was a good guy."

As of right now, it's not clear how MyNet plans to go about nixing the blood-spewing, zombie killing scenes.

"With this deal with 'The Walking Dead,' there's a chance to build a whole new audience," Thompson added.
