Disney's latest "Maleficent" trailer showcases a different side of the title villain reminiscing about a time in her life where she could fly.

In the newest movie clip, Aurora asks Maleficent why she couldn't fly like the other fairies in the woods. Maleficent's answer shows a less ominous version of the title character featuring her strong wings, but claimed they were stolen from her.

Angelina Jolie is as beautiful as ever in the latest clip, but the character's appearance isn't what enticed the actress to take on the role. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jolie revealed what drew her so deeply into the Disney villain.

"Maleficent was always so elegant. She was always in control. And to play her was difficult," Jolie told EW. "I worked on my voice a lot. She's bigger than me. She's on a different level of performance than I have ever done. She's very still. She's very sure of her voice. I kept playing with these different types of British voices, making my voice darker and scarier."

"I was giving my kids a bath, and I started making up other stories about Maleficent. They weren't really paying attention to me...until I started to mess around with this playful [singsongy] voice," Jolie added. "It gets very, very dark, but it had these colors. My kids started laughing. And that's how I would rehearse my scenes. I would do it until my kids were somehow smiling or thought it was funny, because you have to do that and go there with her. Then it was really fun; it was actually quite freeing as an artist to do something so completely nuts."

The live-action "Sleeping Beauty" isn't set to be the typical remake. "Maleficent" will dive into the villain's past heartbreak and will explain to fans why she let darkness fill her heart. Check out the official synopsis for the upcoming Disney film below:

"'Maleficent' is the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic 'Sleeping Beauty.' A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal-an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom-and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well."
