Microsoft Corp. is reportedly working on a new version of Office 365 for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. This decision was made to generate more revenue by gaining new users who have wanted Office for their iOS devices.

Microsoft Office has not been available for other platforms due to alleged politics inside the company. However, after the appointment of the new CEO Satya Nadella, the software giant has regained its composure and accord which allows them to come up with better projects. One of these projects is the development of Microsoft Office for other platforms.

"The team is hard at work on the next version of Office for Mac. While I don't have details to share on timing, when it's available, Office 365 subscribers will automatically get the next Office for Mac at no additional cost," said a Microsoft representative in an e-mail to Tech Times.

Microsoft's new Office 365 subscription, the Office 365 Personal, indicates that Office versions for other platforms that it has ignored are coming soon.

The Office 365 Personal, which costs $6.99 monthly and less than $70 annually, has a 20-gigabyte OneDrive Storage and 90 minutes worth of Skype credit monthly. It allows users to use Office on one personal computer and one tablet. However, the company failed to mention if the tablets must be running on a Windows operating system.

The new Office, on the other hand, does not offer an option to use the service on more than one personal computer at home.

A new Office version for iPhone and iPad were reportedly ready for its official release, but won't be happening until CEO Nadella gives his approval.

According to an analyst, Microsoft is losing about $2.5 billion yearly because of the absence of Office for iPhones and iPads. This absence left iOS users try other platforms like Google Docs and other competitors; thus letting its rivals get traction in the market.
