Fifty Three's Paper drawing app is getting a complete makeover along with new tools and faster performance to align with the new iOS7 design.

Paper, the popular iPad app for creating illustrations (not to be mistaken with Facebook's recent mobile news app), is getting a massive redesign along with new tools in an update announced Wednesday. Months after iOS7 was launched in the market, it appears the Paper app is finally getting a fresh look for Apple's latest OS with cleaner and simpler controls. The app features new fonts, buttons and the interface is more readable than the previous version. The speed improvement to the app shoots up the menus faster than before.

The app looks much aligned with the aesthetic design seen on iOS7, as well as maintains the feel of the previous version. The update, which brings the Paper version to 1.6.1, also includes new features such as zoom and improvements to the dot size for Draw and Erase functions. Users can get a closer look at the picture by simply spreading two fingers outwards on the display.

"Now when you zoom in, your tools do too. Draw, Color, Erase, and Blend adjust their size in the loupe to give you finer control over tiny areas without ever touching a slider," Fifty Three said in a blog post, announcing the new changes.

Users can also control the size of the Dot while using the Draw and Erase tools. A quick tap will make small dots and longer press will create bigger dots. The app also features "faster menus, simplified icons, lighter colors, journal covers that pop, custom typefaces, and overall improved readability," the company said.

Facebook and Fifty Three had a bit of a disagreement last month about the similarity in names  that the social media giant used for its personalized Flipboard-influenced app. While the drawing app maker reached out to Facebook with the concern of confusing customers with a similar name, the Menlo Park-based social media company apologized and continued to use the same name, 9to5 Mac reported. While both apps are found in different genres, people searching for the drawing Paper app have to go through Facebook's Paper. But it is not rocket science to differentiate the apps, simply by reading a quick description.

The updated Paper app can be found on Apple App Store.
