Authorities respond during a deadly stabbing attack at a shopping center in Sydney, Australia.

More details are surfacing about the suspect who was shot dead by Australia police after fatally stabbing at least six people in a Syndey shopping center, according to reports.

The deceased suspect is believed to be 40 years old and was known to law enforcement but his motive has not been determined, although officials have ruled out terrorism, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, adding that the identity of the attacker has not yet been confirmed.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese warned against rampant speculation on the killer's motive.

"We should allow this investigation to take place. It would appear that this person has acted alone," Albanese said at a press conference Saturday.

"The motives are not known yet. And the speculation on that would not be helpful at this time," he said, the outlet reported.New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb said authorities are still trying to determine a motive for the rampage.

"We're waiting to confirm his identification," she said. "And, if in fact it is the person that we believe it is, then we don't have fears for that person holding an ideation - in other words, that it's not a terrorism incident."

The man was known to law enforcement, she said.
