A clip of US reality star and socialite Kim Kardashian admitting the impact the late OJ Simpson had on her family resurfaced after news of his death spread on Thursday morning (Apr. 11).

It could be recalled that the Kardashian family patriarch, Robert, was part of Simpson's "Dream Team" of lawyers who helped him avoid imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

The court drama resulting in the crime was dubbed the "Trial of the Century."

Robert is the father of the Kardashian kids Khloe, Kim, Kourtney, and Rob.

Simpson - a former NFL star and actor before the crime - was a close friend of the family up until the murders. Kris Jenner, Robert's then-ex-wife, considered Nicole one of her closest friends and strongly believed that OJ was the one who murdered her.

The Kim Kardashian clip was part of an interview by David Letterman on his Netflix show "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction," particularly when the retired late-night show host asked her about the Kardashian connection to Simpson.

Kim told a story about when Simpson called her house and asked to speak to Kris.

"It was dinnertime and we were all sitting down and I answered the phone and it was a call from jail and it was OJ and I handed my mom the phone 'cause he wanted to speak to her and I just remember them getting into it," she told Letterman.

Kim also said that Jenner was "extremely vocal on her feelings," saying that her mother was convinced that "her friend was murdered by [Simpson] and that was really traumatizing for her."

Meanwhile, Kim explained that her father had a different story.

"Then we'd go to my dad's house and it was a whole other situation there," she further explained. "So we didn't really know what to believe or whose side to take as kids 'cause we didn't want to hurt one of our parents' feelings."

Kim further recalled that her father became the target of public outrage due to Simpson's trial.

"During the trial, we all went to dinner with my dad and we come back from dinner and on the side of his car it said 'N-word lover,'" she said.

She added that Robert took her and her sister Kourtney out of school one day to go to the trial and did not tell Jenner about it.

"My mom was sitting with Nicole's parents and Kourtney and I were sitting right behind OJ," she remembered. "And we look over at my mom and she's giving us this death stare."
"It kind of tore our family apart, I'd say, for the whole time of the trial," she added.

Kim also shared that she and her siblings grew up calling her "Uncle OJ" and had gone on a family vacation with his family in Mexico just weeks before the murders, The Mirror reported.

HNGN earlier reported that transgender woman and Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner - formerly known as Bruce - became the only member of the Kardashian-Jenner family to react to Simpson's death.

"Good Riddance #OJSimpson," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Meanwhile, the family of Ron Goldman said that Simpson's death was a "mixed bag of emotions."

"The news of Ron's killer passing away is a mixed bag of complicated emotions and reminds us that the journey through grief is not linear," Fred and Kim Goldman said in a statement.

"For three decades, we tirelessly pursued justice for Ron and Nicole, and despite a civil judgment and his confession in 'If I Did It,' the hope for true accountability has ended."
