Microsoft is reportedly floating the idea of launching an Indiana Jones game for the PlayStation 5 next year as other games, including Starfield, could make their way to the console.

The idea comes a few months after Microsoft's adventure game also launches on Xbox, which will be in December this year. It also comes after weeks of rumors that smaller Xbox-exclusive games, such as Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves, are coming to PS5 sometime this year.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to release its Indiana Jones and the Great Circle game to PlayStation 5 following its Xbox launch late this year.

A new report has opened the possibility by claiming that huge releases, including Halo, could launch on PlayStation's latest console in the near future. While that news already raises a lot of eyebrows, one of the biggest questions is regarding the fate of future games that are launched on Xbox.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was recently shown off for the first time at the most recent Xbox Developer Direct. Reports noted that the game is "tentatively" set to release on Sony's newest console, as per The Gamer.

However, it seems like if the game does launch on the PS5, it will not be until a few months after the Xbox release. Xbox's plans for some of its games going multiplatform sound like it has not yet been finalized.

For now, the only sure-fire games that could be granted such access are Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves. Furthermore, Microsoft has not yet confirmed that it will be bringing any of its games to any other platforms.

However, a report on the matter claimed that an announcement from the tech giant will be made in the following weeks. Datmined game assets for Hi-Fi Rush hinted at a release for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Starfield's potential release on the console could come after the release of its "Shattered Space" expansion for Xbox and PC.

Possible Multi-Platform Future

It was found last year during the FTC v. Microsoft case that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally planned to launch on multiple consoles. Bethesda's former head of global publishing, Pete Hines, testified that Disney had a contract for multiple consoles and that the deal was amended to be an Xbox console exclusive, according to The Verge.

Hines linked the change down to potential delays in bringing the game to multiple consoles. He added that they are dealing with a licensor who is going to have a ton of feedback on what they are making, which will add a lot of time to their schedule.

There are also reports that Microsoft is making even more of an investment into PS5 dev kits in order to support the supposed multi-platform strategy that it could adopt. Ahead of the launch of Starfield, the question surrounding its exclusivity was one of the biggest issues at the time.

While that particular game was exclusive, for a time, the potential new developments are also expected to bring back other games into the forefront of the discussions, including The Elder Scrolls 6. However, Microsoft's own internal documents showed that it was planning to skip PS5 and will only launch on Xbox and PC, said IGN.
