LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 26: Ariana Grande is seen at the GRAMMY Charities Signings during the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at STAPLES Center on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.

In October 2023, Grande posted a photo dump of images with Swedish producer Max Martin, teasing her seventh studio album. In December, she appeared to be working on new music when she posted several silent images and videos from a recording studio on Instagram.

She also posted belated updates from the recording process on September 30, October 26, and November 22 on her Instagram. Intriguing!

Grande posted a slideshow of images and videos taken on a farm titled 'AG7: Goat Mother.' Among the photos was a picture of Max Martin, who produced some of Grande's most well-known songs, such as 'Problem,' 'Into You," and 'Everytime.'

The post sent her fans and other artists wild, including Billie Eilish who commented: "UN MUTE PLS", Selena Gomez saying: "FINALLY" and SZA writing: "Oh this [about] to eat."

Her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, commented on her post and wrote: "Love you sweetheart, no one is ready, I'm so freaking proud of you!! This project is so freaking special!!!️".

Grande Confirms New Single in 2024

Some selected fans received a postcard from Grande at the end of December, including a close-up of her red lips. Along with red lipstick from R.E.M. Beauty, the package also included a red-ink note that said, "See you next year."

The post included a picture of Grande crying in the studio along with a picture of Ilya Salmanzadeh, another producer she has repeatedly worked with. Grande included a video of herself curled up on the sofa at the end of the slideshow. The cameraman asked, "What's going on in your life right now? Are you tired? Have you been working hard? Is this the - almost - the last day of this album?"

"I'm so tired," Grande replied. "But so happy and grateful," she giggles. On Sunday, she announced her new single, 'Yes, and?' which will arrive on Friday, January 12.

Grande was photographed by Miles Diggs, who also shared the images on Instagram with the caption "with your chest" and "#ag7".

She was spotted sporting a "Yes, and?" jumper, which sent fans wild as they knew she had previously used a similar tactic to reveal song titles. For example, she wore a jumper that said 'No Tears Left to Cry' before the track was released.

Diggs also liked several tweets about this theory, along with Grande's mother, Joan Grande, that reads 'Yes, and?' is the new 'thank u, next.'

Grande Reflects on Lessons, Sets New Standard in Songwriting

Parx stated in a 2020 interview with Business Insider that Grande's album-making process always begins with a deep dive into her emotional state. She said, referring to the development of 'Positions,' that Grande started with what she wanted to talk about, which always comes from a genuine place and where she was in life at that moment.

In 2018, Grande set a new standard for songwriting when she named a love song on her fourth album, 'Sweetener,' after her then-fiance, Pete Davidson. Davidson and three other ex-boyfriends were mentioned in her No. 1 hit "Thank U, Next," which she released after their breakup.

'Positions' was similar to information regarding Grande's personal life and her relationship with Dalton Gomez. Since then, Grande's dating practices have continued to gather attention.

Two months after 'Positions' was released, she revealed her engagement to Gomez, and the following year, they were married. But in 2023, the pair called it quits and started seeing her 'Wicked' co-star Ethan Slater, who was also married until recently, before their divorce was finalized.

In a December open letter to her followers on Instagram, Grande described 2023 as one of the most transformative, most challenging, yet happiest and most special years of her life.
