US singer Ariana Grande attends Billboard's 13th Annual Women In Music event at Pier 36 in New York City on December 6, 2018.

After recent criticism of her looks on social media, singer Ariana Grande has asked fans to be "gentler and less comfortable" while commenting on her and other people's bodies.

The TikTok Video

In a viral TikTok post, she said she was self-conscious about her physique and wanted to confront the public's concerns.

This is in response to those who have noticed her apparent weight loss and reacted to it, BBC reported. Grande said they were comparing her present figure with "the unhealthiest version of my body."

The pop singer, age 29, said: "I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my 'healthy,' but that, in fact, wasn't my 'healthy.'"

She said she didn't need to explain but did it anyway, as she believes in openness. Grande emphasized, "Healthy can look different."

The singer also stressed that people could never assume they know what another person is going through. "Even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with."

Beautiful in Many Forms

Grande urged her audience to refrain from commenting on people's appearances - whether healthy, unhealthy, large, small, sexy, non-sexy or any other terms - because there are many different types of beauty.

According to her, we should help each other strive toward our goals. She added that there are ways to complement someone or to overlook anything you see that you don't like. Aiming for safety and helping one another stay safe should be our first priority.

Grande, well-known for her popular hits like God Is a Woman and Thank U, Next, is an actress who will play Glinda Upland in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical Wicked.

Especially after the suicide bombing at Manchester Arena in May 2017, 22 people were murdered after her show, and she has been outspoken about her anxiety and mental health struggles.

Similar Event, Different Person

She is not the only celebrity whose size has been the subject of much commentary.

Selena Gomez recently acknowledged that there are valid explanations for sudden changes in one's physical appearance. The treatment for her lupus leads her to retain fluids.

The 30-year-old actress and singer told her TikTok fans they are gorgeous and lovely.

"We have days where maybe we feel like [rubbish], but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself, and my medications are important, and I believe they are what helps me," Gomez stated.
