As the complex negotiations persist, the ongoing tough talks between China and the United States underscore the diplomatic challenges shaping the global landscape.

The US and China are no exception to this, as of the 28th of December this year, according to  Reuters, China's military officials have taken verbal swipes at the US despite progressive talks "Criticizing it's continued meddling in the Aisa-Pacific". Spokesperson Wu Qian stated the following "The United States continues to strengthen it's Aisa-Pacific deployments, this is full of a cold-war mindset. Its goal is for it's own selfish gains and to maintain its hegemony. Its nature is to stoke confrontation.

On a more uplifting note, it was revealed by Aljazeera that top military representatives from both countries, Charels Q Brown of the United States and General Liu Zhenil of China, respectively, met last week via virtual meetings. Both officers had positive things to say with Brown "Reiterating the importance of the People's Liberation Army engaging in substantive dialogue to reduce the likelihood of misunderstanding." General Liu Zhenli stated, "The key for the US and China to develop a healthy, stable, and sustainable military-to-military relationship was for the US to have a correct understanding of China."

In addition to engaging in dialogue with the US, CNN reported earlier today, December 29, 2023, that China has named former naval commander Dong Jun as its new defense minister while the former minister Li Shangfu has taken a step back from public view for reasons unknown.

As one can see while both superpowers will share verbal swipes from time to time neither one wants to engage in conflict with the other which is ultimately for the best, not just for the two superpowers but also for various parties around the globe. As we've seen multiple conflicts break out across the globe in this year alone one can hope that tough words are all that are exchanged between the US and China.
