Ron Burgundy won't see the big screen for a third time.

Director Adam McKay shot down hopes of "Anchorman 3" during an interview with Empire magazine.  Even with the success of "Anchorman" and "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues", a third film will not happen.

"It's done," McKay told Empire. "I think that's it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that's it for Ron Burgundy."

"That's the last sequel we're gonna do," McKay added.  "There's nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we're releasing this alt version, we're totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3."

If you were hoping McKay would change his mind years down the road, you're out of luck.  The director is adamant there will be no more installments in the "Anchorman" series.

"I'm going to say definitely no," he told Empire.  "I'll actually say it in this case!"

McKay plans on continuing making tongue-and-check comedies like "Anchorman," but is venturing out of his comfort zone for new projects.  According to Empire, the director is working on a film adaptation of a  Michael Lewis' book about the stock market crash in 2008.

"It's the best book ever written about finance, banking, the stock market," McKay said. "It's all about five guys who knew that the 2008 collapse was coming before it happened. Some of them try to warn people, and some go, 'Screw it, I'm going to short the market!' These were the few sane people who knew what was happening and it's about what it's like to be the one person in the room who actually knows that the building is about to collapse and no-one will believe you. It's a page-turner. You read it and by the end you completely understand the '08 collapse."
