The US on May 11, 2023, will officially end its 40-month Covid-19 emergency, also discarding the Title 42 law, a tool that has been used to prevent millions of migrants from entering the country.

Jacqueline Medina, Lizbeth's mother, made the heartbreaking discovery of her daughter's lifeless body in their home on Tuesday. Lizbeth, a junior at Edna High School, failed to attend a Christmas parade with her squad, raising concerns within the tight-knit community.

Romero was arrested in Schulenburg, Texas, about 75 miles away from Edna, following a collaborative effort by the Edna Police Department and the Texas Rangers. Edna Police Chief Rick Boone expressed gratitude for the community's assistance and emphasized the countless hours dedicated to solving the case.

Despite the arrest, officials have not disclosed the circumstances of the killing or established any connection between Romero and the victim. The lack of information has left the community with lingering questions about the tragic event.

Jacqueline Medina, in an emotional interview with KAVU-TV, revealed her belief that her daughter's murder may be linked to a recent break-in at their residence. She expressed the unimaginable pain of losing her daughter in a way that "no mother should ever find their child." Lizbeth, also known as Liz, had plans to attend Arlington University to study nursing.

The small town of Edna, home to approximately 6,000 people, has been deeply affected by the loss. The community rallied together to honor Lizbeth's memory, with the Edna football team and residents wearing purple ribbons and shirts at a recent game. A vigil held on Saturday further demonstrated the collective grief and support for the Medina family, according to New York Post.
