The AI industry is in a bit of a shuffle mode as OpenAI and Microsoft terminate and hire Sam Altman.

Previously, the former OpenAI CEO made huge headlines after it was confirmed that the AI developer removed him as the chief executive officer.

After hearing the news, Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president, decided to quit the board. Numerous rumors claim that the artificial intelligence firm is considering re-hiring Sam Altman as its CEO.

However, these speculations were debunked after Microsoft announced that it hired Sam Altman. Here are the latest details in the AI industry.

Sam Altman Hired by Microsoft Days After His Termination in OpenAI

The Verge reported that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that he hired both Sam Altman and Greg Brockman as part of the software giant's new advanced AI research team.

"We're extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team," said Nadella via his official X post.

"We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success," he added.

Sam Altman confirmed this revelation by reposting Nadella's X post and captioning "the mission continues."

Microsoft's CEO replied, saying that he was really excited that Altman decided to join their company.

Satya Nadella further stated that Microsoft already learned a lot over the years on how to give innovators and founders space to create independent identities and cultures.

Elon Musk also replied to Sam Altman, saying that it is "wild times." The billionaire also congratulated the former OpenAI CEO, saying Altman is "for the win."

Since rumors about Sam Altman getting re-hired as OpenAI's CEO were debunked, the AI developer also announced that it already chosen who will be their new CEO. 

Time Magazine reported that OpenAI's new CEO will be Emmett Shear, the former chief executive officer of Amazon's game-streaming platform Twitch. 

This announcement defied calls from OpenAI's investors to bring back Sam Altman to OpenAI. Shear's arrival in OpenAI is the latest "twist" in the AI industry.
