The new iPhone 15's overheating issue disappoints many consumers. Because of this, Apple decided to provide the reasons why the iOS handset gets excessively hot.

Many rumors claim that the new titanium casing and the USB-C port are the ones causing the overheating issue. But, the gadget maker clarified that this is not the case.

Apple Explains Why iPhone 15 Overheats Easily

According to BBC News' latest report, Apple blames the overheating issue of the new iPhone 15 on a bug in the latest iOS 17 version and the Instagram app.

Before Apple provided its explanation, many consumers complained that their newly purchased iPhone 15 smartphones were getting hotter than expected.

Some of them even complained that they couldn't touch their iPhone 15 because the surface was too hot. Numerous speculations about the main cause of the overheating issue quickly circulated online.

These include rumors claiming that the overheating issue of the iPhone 15 is caused by the new titanium material used by Apple for the casing of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, tech experts said that the titanium casing rumor doesn't make sense since people with the base iPhone 15 model and the iPhone 15 Plus also experience the same issue, as reported by Forbes

Aside from the new titanium casing, other speculations stated that the new USB-C power adapters, which are larger than the Lightning adapters, could be the main culprit.

But, Apple already clarified that its new USB-C port technology is not the cause of the overheating problem.

After Apple's announcement of the iPhone 15 series on September 12, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the highly anticipated lineup is now available for in-store pickup starting today.

Apple said that they identified the reasons causing the new iPhone 15 units to heat up easily.

"The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity," said the tech giant manufacturer.

Apple added that overheating is expected when setting up a new iPhone and redownloading all the apps, photos, and music. This is because the device is working overtime, leading to over-temperature.

But, Apple said that they also identified a bug in the new iOS 17, as well as an issue that involves some recent updates on Instagram and other third-party apps.

Specifically, Apple was referring to Uber, Instagram, as well as the popular mobile game Asphalt 9. IG already fixed the issue with its app in the past week.

Meanwhile, Apple is still working on a software update that will fix the iOS 17 bug. It clarified that this upcoming enhancement will not reduce the performance of the iPhone 15.

"We're working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out," added Apple.
