Just a few days before their son Sean Preston turns 18, Kevin Federline reportedly requests an increase in the child support payments he receives from his ex-wife, Britney Spears.

Spears' duty to pay child support for their oldest kid expires when Sean Preston reaches the legal drinking age.

Kevin Federline Seeks Child Support Increase

Federline says that he never bargained on having the kids full-time when they had the terms of support worked out, however, according to a source. The informant also stated that Federline is considering filing a lawsuit to modify the child support agreement.

Spears' ex-husband currently receives $40,000 in child support every month. Sean Preston's monthly payment is expected to drop to $20,000 after turning 18, though. But a Spears-related insider denied these allegations, saying, "That is not accurate. It would be absurd and lack any foundation."

Given Kevin's extravagant compensation, one would assume that if he needed more money, he would at least find employment. Jayden James, the son of the previous couple, is 17 years old. Federline asks for an increase in child support, Spears' court-ordered child support may also rise if he can show that more money is required to take care of Jayden fully.

Until roughly June 2025, when Jayden completes high school, Jayden's assistance is anticipated to be unbroken. It was said earlier this month that Spears was happy she would no longer be required to make monthly payments of tens of thousands of dollars in child support.

Spears, who has been separated from her sons for over a year, is relieved that Sean will be 18 on September 14. According to a close friend of Spears, "Britney is relieved that Sean will be turning 18 on September 14 because she is tired of paying Kevin the insane amount of money he is getting."

Sean, Jayden, and the other four children of Kevin Federline moved to Hawaii with the rest of the family. It was assumed that this action was taken to keep obtaining Sean and Jayden's child support payments.

Child support normally stops in California when a kid turns 19, graduates from high school, or both, whichever occurs first. On the other hand, Hawaii has different child support laws that let a parent collect child support until the child turns 23 if they are enrolled in college or a vocational program.

It was first anticipated that Kevin might take advantage of this loophole since Sean graduated from high school in June. However, according to the updated statute 576B-611 (2016), the state in which child support was initially created has exclusive jurisdiction if it was done so.

For Britney Spears, this has been a difficult month as her third husband, Sam Asghari filed for divorce on August 16, citing irreconcilable differences. Despite his plea, it is doubtful that he will be granted spousal support due to the existence of a prenuptial agreement.

Due to a prenuptial agreement made before Kevin Federline's marriage to Britney Spears in 2004, he did not get spousal support, but he has since continued to gain financially. Spears struggled with personal issues after her turbulent divorce from Federline, and from 2007 to 2021, she was under her father Jamie Spears' conservatorship.

In addition to other costs, Spears has been paying Federline child support at least $420,000 yearly for over 15 years. She also donated roughly $384,126.38 toward different expenses, including utilities and meals, and paid her father $128,000 annually for his duty as her guardian.

In May, word spread that Kevin Federline intended to relocate his family to Hawaii. Britney has constantly been a devoted and encouraging mother to her children, as was said to back the decision at the time.

Federline threatened to involve the court or set a deadline for Spears to agree to the transfer to Hawaii, which caused the issue to worsen. Per Daily Mail, Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, claimed they repeatedly sought confirmation from Britney Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, but never got a response.
