Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton are calling it quits. After months of speculation that the "Blurred Lines" singer was cheating, the two have decided to separate. The couple, who have been together since teenagers and married since 2005, confirmed the news to US Weekly.

"We will always love each other and be best friends," Thicke and Patton said in a joint statement. "However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

The two have one child together named Julian, 3. It's been rumored for months that their marriage was on the rocks but both Thicke and Patton kept quiet about the allegations at first.

"I don't know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn't for Paula," Thicke told Prestige Hong Kong Magazine in September. "She's been my rock, my muse, my inspiration, and I love her. The whole way."

"I've been there for his down moments, and he's been there for mine," she added in the same interview. "Life is full of peaks and valleys. Robin has always been a great person to remind me to celebrate now... We're best friends. We laugh a lot."

Back in August a picture surfaced on Twitter of the "Give It 2 U" singer grabbing a woman's butt at a VMA after party. Shortly before the photo went viral, he was criticized for his racy VMA performance with Miley Cyrus.

Fans attacked the musicians for the performance which showed Cyrus twerking against Thicke. Patton and her husband seemed fine with the performance but Thicke's mother, Gloria Long, wasn't amused.

"I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son," she said. "The problem is now I can never unsee it."

In January, he faced another photo scandal when a picture surfaced of him partying with a mystery woman at a nightclub in Paris.
