Fiery Two-Car Crash Kills 5 on Georgia Highway

Five people were confirmed dead after two cars crashed into each other before catching fire Sunday afternoon (July 16).

State troopers say 29-year-old Avonlea Holtzclaw was driving a Ford Explorer when she was hit by a Chevrolet Corvette driven by 58-year-old Marietta man Mitchell Boggs while trying to cross US 23 onto Mt. Zion Road near Alto in Habersham County, ABC News reported.

Fiery Death for All Occupants

Holtzclaw and her two child passengers aged 5 and 6, as well as Boggs and an unnamed passenger, died at the scene after both vehicles caught fire.

The fiery crash shut down the highway for five hours and caused traffic issues for motorists using it between the north Georgia mountains and Gainesville.
