Headlines scroll at the Twenty-First Century Fox Inc headquarters in the Manhattan borough in New York on April 19, 2023. - Fox News averted a potentially humiliating defamation trial after a last-minute settlement on April 18, but it took a reputational beating that observers said was unlikely to spur the influential broadcaster to tame its "disinformation engine."

According to The Washington Post, the conservative news channel agreed to settle the lawsuit filed by the former Tucker Carlson producer for roughly $12 million.

Grossberg says she continues to stand by her "publicly filed claims and allegations" against Fox News." But she had withdrawn these claims since Fox settled the lawsuit.

A Fox News spokesperson confirmed that the network is finalizing its settlement in the lawsuit. The network says, "We are pleased that we have been able to resolve this matter without further litigation."

The Washington Post notes that the latest settlement lets Fox News avoid another legal battle that seeks to look into the work culture inside the network.

As per NPR, Grossbeg issued her statement via her lawyer Tanvir Rahman. She says that she "is hopeful, based on our discussions with Fox News today, that this resolution represents a positive step by the Network regarding its treatment of women and minorities in the workplace."

The New York Times reports that Grossberg's lawyers have already requested the United States District Court for the South District of New York to dismiss the lawsuit filed against Fox News as they agree to a settlement.

NEW YORK CITY - APRIL 18: People walk by the News Corporation headquarters, home to Fox News, on April 18, 2023 in New York City. Moments before opening arguments were set to begin this afternoon, Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems said that they had reached a settlement of $787 million in the voting machine company’s defamation lawsuit against Fox.

Grossberg used to be the chief booker of the guests on Carlson's now-defunct evening show on Fox News. Grossberg accused the network of a hostile work environment filled with rampant sexism, as well as antisemitism.

Grossberg recalled an instance wherein images of the former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were decorated around the office, showing a photo of her wearing a bikini. On top of that, she alleged that the former boss of the 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' show, Justin Wells, admitted to her that her pay is lower than her male equivalents.

Besides these allegations, she also took a swipe at the show's host, saying that the former Fox News anchor, Carlson, "made my life a living hell." Yet, he says that he "never met her."

According to a report by CNN, Fox News previously dismissed the alarming allegations of the former Tucker Carlson producer. The network claims that the lawsuit itself was "riddled with false allegations."
