On Thursday, Tesla Power USA announced a partnership with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to sell and repair batteries at the state-owned company's gas stations in India.

In India, the relationship would enable Tesla Power USA to distribute and repair batteries at over 36,000 IOCL gas stations, according to a statement from the company, per Money Control.

Additionally, the business said that this is their "first national-level tie-up" with IOCL for the distribution of batteries. With aspirations to spread to additional states, Tesla Power USA batteries will first be offered at a few IOCL petrol pumps in the Delhi-NCR area. Lead-acid and lithium batteries are both available from Tesla Power USA.

Vigyan Kumar, Executive Director at IOCL, highlighted the importance of placing batteries at petrol pumps under the Tire Battery Accessories (TBA) concept, highlighting that it can offer convenience to customers by allowing them to purchase or replace their batteries while refueling their automobiles, according to Mint. The TBA strategy may also provide a variety of battery choices, which eliminates the troubles of looking for the ideal model elsewhere.

Tesla Power USA Targets To Increase Distribution Sites in India

According to Kavinder Khurana, managing director of Tesla Power USA, Tesla Power now has more than 5000 distribution stations in India, and by 2023, the company targets to triple that number. The addition of IOCL gas stations may provide Tesla Power USA with a distribution reach of over 40,000; this would be the largest for any battery brand in India.

IOCL and its affiliates own a 47% market share for petroleum products and 40.4% of the refining capacity of India, per the Economic Times.
