According to a Nevada sheriff's report, actor Jeremy Renner was trying to prevent his snow-removal tractor from slipping and injuring his nephew on New Year's Day when he was sucked beneath the machine and crushed.

The parking brake was not engaged and would have stopped the snowcat vehicle, which travels on a track, when it began sliding sideways after the 'Avengers' actor, 52, used it to lift his nephew's truck out of the snow, according to a Friday report from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

Jeremy Renner's Snowplow Accident

According to the report, the brake indication light inside the snowcat's cab was not working, and "mechanical difficulties may have contributed to this collision," according to the report.

The nephew was able to assist Renner until help arrived, according CBS News. Renner was taken to the hospital, where he remained for more than two weeks, having at least two surgical procedures and receiving intensive care.

The report states that impairment was not deemed to play a role in the occurrence. The incident began on New Year's Day when Renner dragged his nephew's truck off the actor's snow-stuck driveway; he informed detectives while hospitalized on January 5, according to the incident report.

Jeremy Renner stated that after hauling the vehicle into the roadway, the snowplow began "sliding sideways" and then "began to tumble down the hill." Renner informed detectives that he leaped out of the snowcat at that point.

Renner had to jump onto the snowplow's moving track before being "quickly pushed beneath the left side track," according to the report. CNN obtained a 911 call record that stated Renner was "totally crushed by a massive snowcat" and had "severe (difficulty) breathing" with "the right side of his chest... crumpled - upper body crushed."

The report states, "The Pistenbully rolled over him and went down the road." "He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) administered treatment until the arrival of emergency professionals."

Renner Broke 30 Bones

Renner, who portrays the heroic archer Hawkeye in the Marvel film and television 'Universe,' reportedly shattered over thirty bones in the event.

Per OK!, Jeremy Renner is said to have recalled further specifics of the event on 5 January, stating that the car began "sliding sideways" after he extracted his nephew's pickup from the snow. The actor "feared that the PistenBully might strike (his nephew), so he attempted to halt or deflect the PistenBully."

A neighbor called 911 and stated that Jeremy had been "totally crushed beneath a giant snowcat" and that the right side of his chest had "collapsed - his upper body is crushed."

A neighbor said that the actor was snoozing intermittently at the time of the 911 call, prompting the operator to advise the caller to keep him awake. This news comes days after Jeremy uploaded an Instagram snapshot of himself in physical recuperation at home, thanking followers for their support.
