Dayframe mobile app update brings support for photo slideshows to Chromecast streaming dongle in addition to several other tweaks for Android users.

The Dayframe mobile application has been updated with some significant changes that will entice Chromecast users to download the app. Chromecast users can now cast their personal photos, GIFs and other imagery on the big TV screen and also control the gallery from a smartphone or tablet. The new option is the first to let Chromecast users replace their default photo background with their choice of images.

"We wanted to make something you could touch and feel. So it's not just play and sit back - it's interactive! You can control what's playing on Chromecast by swiping forwards and backwards, zoom to fit or fill, pause, shuffle, and even like photos," the app description read.

Dayframe is a mobile application that turns an Android tablet into a customizable photo frame. Users can play photos from Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+, Dropbox, Flickr, Twitter, 500px, and more, while the tablet sits on the side table in your bedroom. The Chromecast integration brings these similar functions so users can stream content on their television, but the feature comes at a price. The photo viewer and slideshow app for Chromecast can be unlocked from within the free app for a mere $3.

Other changes to the Dayframe version 2.1 include an overhauled user interface with library shortcuts in the left menu and playlists in the right menu. Users can save favorite streams, view and play individual photo streams from the upgraded library, according to the app description page.

The Chromecast integration is in the beta test phase, which means users can expect further improvements to the feature in the days to come. Users can download the free app from Google Play Store and turn old tablets into colorful photo frames.
