According to a renowned broadcaster, Prince William "protected" his brother Prince Harry from the specifics of their parents' troubled relationship.

As the 'War of the Waleses' unfolded in the 1990s, the disintegration of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales' marriage was well-documented.

Their marital problems dominated the front pages, putting the Royal Family at the center of a major controversy. Throughout the turmoil surrounding her marriage problems, Princess Diana depended on those closest to her, one of whom was her eldest son Prince William, who, despite his young age, provided his mother with a "shoulder to weep on."

Ex-Broadcaster: Prince William Protected Prince Harry During Royal Fallout

According to a veteran royal journalist, Prince William not only watched out for his mother but also his younger brother Prince Harry, amid the royal crisis. According to Simon McCoy, Sky News' first royal journalist and a broadcasting icon, William shielded Harry from the horrors of his parents' crumbling relationship.

While Prince William continues to be a full-time working royal who will one day accede to the throne, Prince Harry has stood aside from royal duties and migrated to the United States. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stated in 2020 that they will stand down from their high responsibilities in the Royal Family to pursue other pursuits.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited North America before settling in Montecito, California, a wealthy enclave filled with A-List celebrities. A year later, they announced that they would not be returning to the Firm.

Their following bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey affected the Sussexes' already strained relationship with the Royal Family, especially the fraternal tie between Prince William and Prince Harry. According to Prince Harry, his brother and father are "stuck" within the Firm, according to Express.

Prince William, Harry Kept in the Dark Over Princess Diana's Documentary

Princes William and Prince Harry have been kept in the dark about a new documentary about their mother's death. The new Channel 4 documentary will investigate the police investigations that followed Diana's murder and the conspiracy theories that arose as a result.

The princess was 36 years old when she died in a vehicle accident in Paris on August 31, 1997, over 25 years ago. The four-part series Investigating Diana: Death In Paris will detail the two investigations into the tragedy, the first conducted by the French Brigade Criminelle in 1997 and the second by the Metropolitan Police in 2004.

As reported by The Telegraph, sources have verified that neither Prince William nor Prince Harry were contacted or provided a preview of the documentary. Both princes have guarded their mother's memories. The documentary will be delivered as a gripping and forensic police procedural and will look at how powerful individuals, the press, and the internet developed and nourished conspiracy theories that swamped facts and called into question the fundamental essence of reality.

It will include interviews with investigators from both agencies, some of whom will be making public appearances for the first time. The series will also look at the public's insatiable need for answers, which fueled extraordinary press attention and the explosion of Internet chatrooms, where conjecture about the 'true cause' of Diana's death became one of the early viral hits of the early internet."

It is directed by Will Jessop and Barnaby Pell and produced by Sandpaper Films, the same company that produced Diana, 7 Days, around a week following her death. Meanwhile, The Princess, another documentary on Diana's life, will debut this month after causing controversy by featuring footage from her 1995 Panorama interview with Martin Bashir. William has already stated that the film of his mother should never be shown again, and the BBC has stated that it would not broadcast or license it, as per Mirror.
